Dingo

In 1969, the outback town of Poona Flat hosts an impromptu concert on a desert runway. Young John “Dingo” Anderson is among the crowd of locals entranced by the jazz trumpet of Billy Cross (Miles Davis), whose plane had been diverted to this tin-shed airport. 20 years later, John (Colin Friels, Malcolm) is now a dingo trapper and a part-time musician, married to his childhood sweetheart, Jane (Helen Buday, Alexandra’s Project), and daydreaming of following his hero to the jazz clubs of Paris. Frustrated by playing half-rate music in dusty dancehalls to the local crowd, and goaded by his recently returned childhood friend Peter (Joe Petruzzi, Stingers), Dingo must now decide how much he is willing to sacrifice for his music. Featuring a stunning, award-winning score by Miles Davis and legendary film composer, Michel Legrand (one of Davis’ last recordings before his death), Dingo is Rolf de Heer’s (Bad Boy Bubby, The Tracker) cinematic ode to the power of music.
